Why many do not like their job

Not everyone has such happiness - to engage in work that brings pleasure. Some people live counting days until Friday, telling everyone how this work got them.

We spend almost a third of our lives at work, so why do so many people spend their time on activities that they consider useless or even hateful? As they pondered this question, users of the popular Quora.com Q&A site had a lively discussion.

A habit you start to hate

Suppose a person received a good education and got a job. At the age of 22, he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life, besides, he thought that his professional field was limited only to the specialty received at the university.

And now he and his ilk have not changed jobs for the past 7–10 years. They can make good money, but still feel like they are locked in a cage. This is a habit that they begin to hate over time.

Yes, of course, some decide to leave their homes and find what they like. But most people prefer not to take risks.
Do you want to survive - work

Most often, we do not hate our work, but the fact that we are forced to work if we want to survive. It is this commitment that prevents us from loving our work.
People must do work in which there is diversity.

I think that people hate a lot of what they have to do day after day, month after month, year after year.

I love answering questions on Quora. But I like it because I do not have to do it. I’m sure if someone told me that I should write 10 answers a day, very soon my enthusiasm would come to naught.

I also think that people should be engaged in work in which there is diversity, in which case they will not have the feeling that they, like established robots, do the same thing every day.
People don’t value what they have

I think that people hate their work because they don’t feel its value. If they ever have to lose it and remain penniless in their pockets and prospects for the future, then they will realize how important their work was for them.
Two main reasons

I am not a sociologist and not an HR expert, but as an executive director I thought a lot about this. Two main reasons that I have identified:

    You do not get along with leadership. You can consider yourself a first-class specialist who always offers the most breakthrough ideas, but your leadership may have a completely different opinion on this matter. Ultimately, the last word always remains with him, and often you have to do not what you want, but what they say to you.
    Your load is too heavy. The traditional 8-hour work day is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Work does not stay at work when you leave the office. You can correspond with the client at midnight and finish the “burning” project. Modern realities are such that you often have to work on weekends and even on holidays. Not everyone can handle such a frantic rhythm.

Forced necessity

    Many of us work only to feed ourselves and our family. This is a necessary necessity.
    You do not feel that the work that you are doing is beneficial to someone. You do it without a soul, just work out the hours for which you are paid.
    Many people feel that their work does not provide them with opportunities for self-realization.

People don't like to settle for less

    You lost your previous job, which was much better than your current one. No wonder you hate your current job because none of us likes to settle for less.
    You are exhausted not only by your work, but also by the way to it. You have to get an entire hour, or even more. That is, every day you waste two hours of your life.
    You have no motivation. You do not see the point in your work. You have long lost interest in her, and the idea that you wake up tomorrow and everything will turn around again, drives you into depression.
